DAY 4 – 21 March 2020

Ok, so not technically a #RemoteWorking day but still the 4th day of this experience and the first with the kids so thought it might be worth a little note. Key points from today:
1. I love my kids 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
2. There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY I can be locked down with my kids for more than 48 hours 🤯
3. Today the kids have been learning to how to cook pancakes (Home Economics), have a pillow fight (PE), draw a rainbow (Art), write out a Mother’s Day card (English) and how to tidy the house up for the 20th time (Maths?) 👨‍🏫
4. M was really engaging with Steph’s nature lesson whilst out for our walk! 😴
5. Make sure you support local businesses – we got takeaway from Finbarr’s Restaurant tonight and would highly recommend! 🤤

Stay safe and let’s see what Sunday brings!

DAY 3 – 20 March 2020

#RemoteWorking is now in full swing in the Low household with the first day when we were both due to work full days. Daily lessons (important to remember in the forthcoming days/weeks/months):
1. Making the first ‘work’ cup of coffee for your wife in the morning seems to carry a disproportionately high number of brownie points ☕️
2. Very VERY occasionally my wife can be wittier than me (but don’t tell her!) 😜
3. Posting a witty video on your firm’s intranet and seeing the number of views increasing but the number of “likes” and comments remaining at zero is soul destroying! 😳
4. Hoovering the entire downstairs is apparently an appropriate use of my lunch break 🤷🏼‍♂️
5. Fridays at home are just as long as Fridays in the office and the weekend could not come soon enough 🍺

On a serious note, restrictions announced tonight but more help too. Stay home everyone and stay safe and any tips or tricks to make our remote working experience better would be very welcome!

DAY 2 – 19 March 2020

Well not a hugely exciting day which does not bode well for the rest of my #LawyerLowDiaries
Still every day is a school day, and today I learnt:
1. Working from home shall henceforth be known as remote working 🤓
2. Not many people use the word henceforth on Facebook or indeed at all! 🧐
3. I’m an amazing husband as my wife now has a proper desk, office chair and amazing view of our garden whilst I’m still stuck on the breakfast bar 😇
4. Announcing this morning that there would be a fire drill at 9.30am did not go down with my wife as well as I had expected (I’m a training fire marshall you know!) 👨‍🚒
5. As soon the kids get home work must immediately cease so that I can build the princess castle and “choose who I want to be”! 👸🏼

Given that the schools close after tomorrow I’m thinking Day 3 will be critical to get 16 weeks worth of work done in 7 hours! Stay safe everyone! #RemoteWorking

DAY 1 – 18 March 2020

Things I learnt today on my first day working from home…
1. Working in my kitchen surrounded by my kids’ artwork is a nice change and quite motivational 🤓
2. Working in my kitchen makes snacking far too easy 🐷
3. Working from home makes a run in daylight after logging off much easier (self isolating from humans only) 🐑
4. Working from home alongside my wife was a better experience than we both feared but that may change VERY rapidly 🤯
5. Working from home is exhausting hence the second photo – PS that is M’s foot before you ask… 🍆 😂

Tune in tomorrow to see what happens on Day 2!
