And in a flash weekend becomes weekday and days with the kids becomes a day in the office. Oh how quiet and peaceful!
Tomorrow sees the big return to school for E and she can’t wait. But before then let’s have today’s top 5:
1. Nothing like leaving things to the last minute and so today was the day when Steph got the last of E’s new school uniform. M insisted on having a try too, just so we can see what he’ll look like in a couple of years. Super cute is my take on that. I’m sure we’ll be taking the official first day photos tomorrow morning, the same as parents up and down the country! 📸
2. E got a special package in the post today with a letter from the Queen Fairy. She had sent another elf to add to E’s fairy garden together with some little treats. She is so lucky to have received so many contributions to her little project and gets so much pleasure playing out in the garden with them all. Mammy even managed to capture a dusk shot of the finished garden with the lights on full display. Definitely time well spent! 🧝♂️
3. Steph has to take the larger monster to the shops this afternoon and of course she wanted to carry the basket (not Steph you understand). It was too heavy so a compromise was struck whereby the monster got to carry Mammy’s handbag instead. She changed in an instant. “I’m the Mammy now so I get to pick what we buy…” Apparently biscuits were suddenly on the list! When they got to the till Mammy asked if E was paying and quick as a flash she replied “yes of course as I’m the Mammy but I’m using Mammy’s credit card!” 💳
4. After M’s bath I caught a whiff of something pretty unpleasant. I thought he must have filled his new on nappy but it did stink big time. When I had a look it was clean as a whistle so I assumed it was a really bad pump. Like ones that creep out after a big bowl of brussel sprouts or cabbage and are impossible to hide. I then smelt it again and assumed he must have a wind problem but knew he was clean. He was not. The first whiff was just a warm up apparently and I genuinely cannot believe something that size can come out of a little 2 year old! Anyway you don’t need to know any more as you get the picture! 💩
5. I hate leaving things until the last minute but it seems to happen more than it should, despite my best efforts. I am determined not to let my kids fall into the same trap particularly with things like homework which I know you just have to keep on top of. How it’s even possible to find out the one piece of homework E had over the summer hadn’t been done on the night before school starts when she is already bathed and in her pyjamas, is beyond me. But sure enough there I was sitting with her tonight trying to list out the things she is most looking forward and what questions she has about returning (everything and nothing respectively). We must to better!!! No last minute homework is my new school year’s resolution! 🤔
