DAY 146 – 10 August 2020

Well after the overexcitement of yesterday from which I for one am still recovering, today was incredibly boring by comparison. The kids went off to Grandmas, Steph into the office and I was back on the #RemoteWorking. There’s something about weekdays which make them far less interesting. Oh yeh, that’s work.
Anyway I’ve tried to rustle up a short top 5 for you to enjoy:

1. I have absolutely no idea what happened but I’ve somehow managed to injure my shoulder. It started hurting a little last night but got a lot worse overnight and this meant (unusually for me) I really didn’t sleep well. I’ve been in pain with it all day although the painkillers have taken the edge off. I really wish I knew what I’d done but I can only think I had too much adrenaline flowing during E’s accident yesterday and I’ve lifted something or twisted in a way which I wouldn’t normally. Sometimes being a SuperDad has consequences! 😫
2. Even though we had a relatively early night, the kids slept in this morning which is always a joy. I ended up going through to check on E and she was just waking herself up. The first thing she said to me was “Is it the weekend yet?” Now I mean she’s only 5 but if there’s anything to sum up how we all feel on a Monday morning it’s those 5 words! I had to break the news that there are 5 more sleeps before we reach the weekend but as she rightly pointed out that means only 5 sleeps until Daddy’s birthday. Every cloud… 🥳
3. In an attempt to continue his efforts to confound us and keep us on edge, M was picked up tonight having refused to go for a nap all day. Inevitably this meant he fell asleep in the car on the way home. Now last time that happened his body decided that it was only a nap so he woke up at 9.30pm ready for his usual evening activities. So tonight we tried to wake him up to give him a bottle but he just wasn’t having it. So we’ve had to give in and put him in his bed. We’ve then just been primed ready for him to waken up but so far not a peep. 🤞
4. Tomorrow M has his settling in session at his new nursery so that is going to be quite an experience. I really hope the nursery staff know what they are letting themselves in for! E is also going in to try out their holiday club which is called Dragonflies. I told her tonight that was the name of her “room” and she just freaked out. I mean big time. When she’d calmed down she explained that she didn’t want to spend the morning in a room full of dragons and flies. Bless her. It isn’t a Bushtucker Trial! 🐉
5. E got her new jigsaw this evening – it’s all about London. Of course she refused to go to bed until it was completed. She has trained me well to be her “jigsaw assistant”. I know my place. I’m in charge of separating the edges out first so she can construct the perimeter and then I’m allowed to pass her the inside pieces but at no point am I allowed to tell her where pieces go. It must be all her own work you see. And when she finished she announced that she needs to go and visit London now so she can visit the queen. Brace yourself London! You won’t know what’s hit you if my two turn up on a sightseeing tour! 🧩
