DAY 23 – 9 April 2020

Well it’s been quite a day! I woke up feeling very relaxed and refreshed and raring to go. To my surprise the kids and Steph slept in so it was just me by myself pottering about and getting all my jobs done. Once everyone was up, washed and dressed we all jumped in the car and went out for the most wonderful long drive hardly seeing a soul but instead some stunning scenery. We found a pub in the middle of nowhere which was open and serving food so we sat in the beer garden having lunch and a couple of cheeky drinks and just soaking up the rays. There was a playground area so the kids went off to play nicely together. Unfortunately M fell off the swings and started crying but no matter what we did he wouldn’t stop.
It was only at that point I woke up and realised it was 4.15am and M was crying in his room. And so started Day 23…

So what are the highlights I’m allowed to share?:

1. E and Mammy spent a lot of time today preparing their Easter egg scene. After much debate they agreed on a spring field theme complete with flowers, chicks and a couple of a very fluffy sheep! I never knew thick paint was the way to go rather than felt tip pens, but hey, who am I to interfere in craft activities! 🐑
2. We did actually have to pop out today and E found it really difficult she had to stay in the car. When we drove past McDonald’s she asked if we could go there for lunch. Now she knows that all restaurants are closed but I thinking seeing it in the flesh just made it harder to comprehend. “I know” she said “we can just drive round the back and get it through the window!” Oh if only! 🍔
3. After his early morning antics, M was shattered all day but is still a bottomless pit and eating everything in sight. Unfortunately he is yet to master noticing the difference between real food and the plastic food we have for his play kitchen. Who knew that a plastic avocado could be so tasty! 🥑
4. I hosted the first work quiz tonight over Zoom which seemed to go well even if the questions were a tad challenging. Requests immediately followed for specialist rounds next week and apparently it’s going to feature 70s rock, Love Island and Harry Potter questions so that could be interesting. The compulsory drink in hand definitely added an extra something to the event – including far too much abuse about my love of musicals! It’s not my fault no one else knew the answers! 🎤
5. My darling daughter announced this evening that she would lead me in an exercise routine so that I could “get rid of that big tummy. Not that I’m calling it fat” After some star jumps and lots of running round the living room she announced I could have a “Paw Patrol break” which seems to consist of sitting on the couch whilst she watches an episode and then we repeat. Some weird circuit training but who knows, it might work and then I can look to get some sponsorship from the makers of Paw Patrol!!! 🐶
